On Thursday, April 25, 2013 the Hilton Americas - Houston was the venue for the 30th Annual Spring Luncheon benefitting the Waggoners Foundation. The event started with an invitation only reception at the Green Room with a photo opportunity with Jamie Lee Curtis.

Guests checked in as early as 11:15am for the program, that started at noon. Master of Ceremonies Frank Billingsley welcomed the more than 1100 guests and Father TJ Martinez gave the invocation. 

Lunch was served, before Chairman of the Board Jeff Paine took the stage for a Welcome, Recognition and Award presentation, followed by remarks of the CEO William M. Taylor, who also invited the Luncheon Chairs Vivie & Chris O'Sullivan on the stage. Award-winning actress and best-selling author Jamie Lee Curtis was the keynote speaker for this year's Waggoners Foundation Speaker Series in memory of Jay Waggoner.

The Council was founded in 1946, is 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and receives funding from the United Way of Greater Houston and the Texas Department of State Health Services as well as private contributions, special events and program fees. The Council is supporter of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependance. Sliding fees are available for those who qualify. Confidentiality is strictly observed.

The Waggoners Foundation Speaker Series has gained national recognition, with the spring luncheon becoming one of the largest philantropic luncheons in Houston. Speakers share their personal stories, as well as information related to alcoholism, addiction, recovery, health and wellness.
