On Friday, November 18, 2011 more than 600 guests and supporters of Nora's Home attended the inaugural gala at the Westin Galleria. The evening started with a cocktail reception and characters from the Wizard of Oz mingled with the guests. The lion provided the biggest laugh.

One could not resist to take a sparkling glass of champagne from the tray-skirt of the champagne lady. The monkey Andy was the attraction of the evening and guests were eager to be photographed with the monkey. Guests enjoyed their cocktails, bought raffle tickets, donated bricks and bid on many of the silent auction items.

The dinner entertainment started at 7:30pm, as Emcee Dana Tyson from radio station Sunny 99.1 welcomed the guests and introduced the president and founder Dr. Osama Gaber. He introduced the co-chairs Pat Bono and Trecy Schnitzer, before he gave his remarks. He then presented awards to Wiliam Reily, who received a kidney transplant from his friend Alice Fanto, who also received an award.

The inaugural Nora Gaber Sunflower Award was presented to nine year old Cade Alpard, who is a pediatric liver transplant survivor. He also received a proclamation from the City of Houston in addition to several baseball memorabilia.

Dinner was served and guests were entertained by Michael Grasso's cutting edge magic style, had to opportunity to bid at the life auction and later dance the night away.

About Nora's Home

On June 12, 1997, Nora's life was cut short in a tragic car accident. Her parents' decision to donate her organs to save the life of several critically ill children was a continuation of her charitable heart and innate spirit of giving.

Her legacy of kindness and compassion carries on through Nora's Life Gift Foundation. Founded by her loved ones in 1998, the non-profit organisation is committed to honor the memory of Nora Gaber by engaging in work that reflects the concern of others that characterized her life.

Led by a voluntary board of directors, the foundation strives to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients suffering end-stage organ failure, individuals undergoing transplantation, and these patients' families.

Nors's Home is a hospitality house dedicated to transplant patients and their families who must travel more than 100 miles from home for live-saving medical treatments in the Texas medical Center.
