The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show "What To Wear To That Equestrian Affaire" fashion presentation and luncheon was an outstanding afternoon of fashion and fun at the Wynden. In lively style, Pin Oak answered the often asked question of, "What to wear to the many ringside parties at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show?" Worry no more, as the answer was here at the luncheon featuring fashions appropriate for attending the many equestrian events presented by Pin Oak.
As the fashionable guests themselves arrived, they were greeted by a friendly staff for a fun afternoon. While everyone mingled and enjoyed a glass of wine before the luncheon, beautiful models generously provided by Tootsies were finalizing their looks and were getting ready behind the scenes. As the guests were seated and enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Masraff's, the fashion presentation began with the style, grace and pinache that The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show is renowned for. Thanks to all of the sponsors who helped put on such a entertaining afternoon!
In 1948, The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show began a long-term commitment to raise funds to construct and later support the Texas Children's Hospital, which opened in Houston in 1954.
During the next three decades, “Mr. Jim” Abercrombie, Leopold Meyer, the Junior League and a group of dedicated Houstonians established Pin Oak as one of the preeminent horse shows in the nation, attracting as many as 60,000 visitors, and enabling the Association to contribute millions to worthy causes.
The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, has grown into the oldest and most prestigious horse show in the country, and one of Houston’s most unique social and fundraising events, raising millions of dollars for its charities, Texas Children’s Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House of Houston.
In 2011 alone, Pin Oak raised over $125,000 with the help of loyal sponsors, riders and community support.
The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show got its start as a fundraiser for the first hospital in Houston dedicated to children, and the proceeds of the 1947 show provided a considerable portion of the initial backing that established Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
With a recent commitment of $300,000 being fulfilled to support the Hematology/Oncology Clinic at Texas Children’s first hospital outside the Medical Center and one of the largest suburban pediatric hospitals in the country, Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. Pin Oak is proud to announce our new donation commitment of $400,000. We will now sponsor one of the Child Life Play Rooms at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. The Child Life Play Rooms are a refuge away from medical tests and procedures, where patients and their siblings can enjoy arts, crafts, music, games, reading, movies, and video games, with the companionship and guidance of Child Life specialists and assistants. Events like Bingo, holiday parties, music programs along with special guests and celebrity characters will take place in these rooms, decorated of course with an equestrian flair.
The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show will be held over a two week period at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy starting on March 21 and running through April 1, 2012, and will feature a wide array of equestrian talent including hunters and jumpers, American Saddlebreds, Andalusians, Welsh ponies, United Mountain Horses and Irish Draught Horses.
The crown jewels of the event take place in each of the two weeks. Saturday evening of Week One features the Carole and Jim Looke $30,000 Grand Prix and Championship Finals. Week Two features the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby hosted by Valobra Jewelry and Antiques on Friday and the Houston Area Land Rover Centres $30,000 Grand Prix on Saturday. All of these events have ringside galas and special entertainment.
Rick Terry, of BBVA Compass stated, “Our sponsorship of The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show has been a wonderful experience and a great investment for BBVA Wealth Solutions. The show attracts an affluent audience and a tight-knit community of participants, all passionate about this sport. Compass is proud to be a member of The Pin Oak Family.”
The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show "What To Wear To That Equestrian Affaire" fashion presentation and luncheon was a wonderful kick-off to the annual event. We cannot wait and so look forward to the big event coming in just a few short weeks.
